Lane completed all 100 lessons in his reading book, so we told him he would get a night out with Mama and Daddy. We ate at Outback and then took him to his very first movie, How to Train Your Dragon. It was in 3-D. Lane was so impressed. He watched the whole movie without even asking for a restroom break! We had a great time.

Trevor and I have been blessed beyond measure with our two boys. We are thankful and humbled to be given the awesome responsibiliy of raising them into God fearing men. "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Pr. 22:6. Please pray that we train them accordingly as we journey through parenthood. Lane is four now and has very naturally taken on his big brother role. He watches out for Luke, which is really helpful. Throughout the day I hear, "Mama, Luke's on the table, in the trash can, in your closet", or "Luke took his diaper off", etc. Spare time these days is rare, but they're so much fun. We hope everyone enjoys seeing the boys and we'll try to keep it updated frequently.

T-Ball
This is a video of one of Lane's T-ball games. His team name is the Raptors.
The boys were helping inspect the equipment at the fire department after the game.

A Few Snapshots
This was "old fashion day" at church last Sunday. It was the only time I'd seen Trevor in non-camo overalls.
Typical Firstborn?
Sometimes, Lane takes full advantage of being the big brother. In other words, he's bossy.

Homemade Biscuits
Trevor makes the best biscuits. (He grew up with women who knew the art.) I don't even try. Here he is passing on the tradition.

A New Fashion Trend?
I'm trying to encourage Luke to dress himself. He's also potty trained now and doesn't always get his pants back on. Having said that, he also will not stand for me to go outside without him. Even if it's just to get something out of the car, as was the case here. This was his attempt to escape to the sandbox. I turned around to find him with boots on the wrong feet, and underwear not only backwards, but inside out too. Try that! He looked at me as if to say, "Mama, it's only the sandbox."
I will interject a story about Lane here. A few days ago Lane wanted Nana to watch him do his lesson. I reluctantly agreed, foreseeing that such a distraction would prove counter-productive. He always coasts through identifying sounds and sounding out words by themselves. But at the end of each lesson, he has to read a little story. As soon as he sees all those words together, he sometimes shuts down. When he gets frustrated, he stops and says,"Let me get my brain turned on", and begins to maneuver imaginary gears and buttons on his head (sorry I don't have a video of this). After a few seconds of that, he presses one 'button' on the side of his head and declares, "Huh, this button doesn't work." Mama, who was doing her best to keep quiet, was doubled over laughing.
Mama's Little Helper
Luke was helping me make blueberry muffins. I use the word "help" very loosely. I gave him the job of putting the liners in the muffin pan. But Mr. over-achiever decided to spoon the dry ingredients into the liners as well. He was so proud of himself, all I could do was smile and get the camera. Rule No. 1: Don't turn your back on them for one second!
A Vivid Imagination
Lane likes to take the drawers out of this bench and pretend he's driving a Jeep. He always asks, "Mama, do you want to go for a ride in my Jeep?" Unfortunately Mama doesn't fit.
Heather's Baby Brother
This is my brother, John, showing Lane how to play his guitar last May. Luke was especially impressed. Maybe this is where Lane gets his love for performing. Hopefully Uncle John can teach him to play like that one day.
