This was "old fashion day" at church last Sunday. It was the only time I'd seen Trevor in non-camo overalls.

Typical Firstborn?

Sometimes, Lane takes full advantage of being the big brother. In other words, he's bossy.

Snow!

Two weeks ago, it actually snowed here. The boys didn't know what to think. I kept watching at the window hoping it would stick. We ended up with an inch or two. By Sunday it had all melted but was fun while it lasted.

Homemade Biscuits

Trevor makes the best biscuits. (He grew up with women who knew the art.) I don't even try. Here he is passing on the tradition.

A New Fashion Trend?

I'm trying to encourage Luke to dress himself. He's also potty trained now and doesn't always get his pants back on. Having said that, he also will not stand for me to go outside without him. Even if it's just to get something out of the car, as was the case here. This was his attempt to escape to the sandbox. I turned around to find him with boots on the wrong feet, and underwear not only backwards, but inside out too. Try that! He looked at me as if to say, "Mama, it's only the sandbox." I will interject a story about Lane here. A few days ago Lane wanted Nana to watch him do his lesson. I reluctantly agreed, foreseeing that such a distraction would prove counter-productive. He always coasts through identifying sounds and sounding out words by themselves. But at the end of each lesson, he has to read a little story. As soon as he sees all those words together, he sometimes shuts down. When he gets frustrated, he stops and says,"Let me get my brain turned on", and begins to maneuver imaginary gears and buttons on his head (sorry I don't have a video of this). After a few seconds of that, he presses one 'button' on the side of his head and declares, "Huh, this button doesn't work." Mama, who was doing her best to keep quiet, was doubled over laughing.

Museum of Aviation

We took the boys to the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins back in September. They loved seeing all the airplanes.

Mama's Little Helper

Luke was helping me make blueberry muffins. I use the word "help" very loosely. I gave him the job of putting the liners in the muffin pan. But Mr. over-achiever decided to spoon the dry ingredients into the liners as well. He was so proud of himself, all I could do was smile and get the camera. Rule No. 1: Don't turn your back on them for one second!

A Vivid Imagination

Lane likes to take the drawers out of this bench and pretend he's driving a Jeep. He always asks, "Mama, do you want to go for a ride in my Jeep?" Unfortunately Mama doesn't fit.

Heather's Baby Brother

This is my brother, John, showing Lane how to play his guitar last May. Luke was especially impressed. Maybe this is where Lane gets his love for performing. Hopefully Uncle John can teach him to play like that one day.

Well, Blow Me Down!

Lane is going to be in our Christmas play at church tomorrow. He's supposed to be a Popeye souvenir ornament. I couldn't find a costume small enough for him, so I made this one. He looks even cuter in person. He's trying to do the Popeye wink.

Silly Boys

This was just after supper, when the boys normally get very wound up. If Trevor were home, they would be wrestling in the floor. But since Daddy's at the fire department tonight, they had to find some other means of amusement.

I'm Learning to Read!

I don't know who is more excited, me or Lane. I've been so anxious about starting this process, but it's going well. I tell him he'll be able to read me bed time stories soon.
